6 Ways to Make Valentine’s Day Special at Home

We all have had to do things differently this year and that includes how we celebrate holidays. Valentine’s Day is a holiday that people seem to love or hate. Regardless about how you feel towards this controversial holiday I think this year we should take any excuse to celebrate. We all need a little more positivity in our lives. There is this idea that Valentines Days is for couples, but we say it is for anyone. If you are alone this VDay then make it a celebration of yourself. We have a few ideas for how you can celebrate from home this year.

1. Make your favorite breakfast.

How does banana bread, cinnamon buns and pancakes sound? It's fun to have an epic breakfast sometimes. Bring out all your favourite breakfast recipes to make it a memorable morning. I highly recommend trying this Pumpkin Pancake Recipe. Add some walnuts and syrup on top and you are set.

2. Set up a picnic.

Get a blanket, your favourite foods, and a yummy drink and set up a picnic in your living room. You could watch a movie or just have good conversations while you munch. One of my favourite things to include in a picnic are bacon wrapped dates! This elevated snack is the perfect combination of sweet and salty. Here is the recipe I use.

3. Try a new recipe or cuisine.

I don’t know about you guys but this pandemic has made me a wanna-be-chef. I have had so much fun making new recipes. With so much time on our hands, why not try a new recipe that may take an hour or two. I made Bao Buns and while they were tedious to make, they were delicious.

4. Set the table

Make your home feel fancy. After being locked inside this long it’s nice to have a change of scenery. Buy some flowers, light some candles and treat yourself to something yummy.

5. Play virtual games online with friends.

There are so many platforms to play games with friends these days. Timeout has compiled this list. One that I have played on Zoom with friends is Stay the F*** Inside. It is fun as a drinking game or for just playing. 100% of the profits also go to COVID 19 Relief as well so you can feel good about where your money goes. Or if you would rather you can get creative and make your own themed quiz for people to participate in. (ie. 2000 pop star trivia.)

6. Have a movie night online with friends with Teleparty.

  1. Go to the store and get snacks and candy to make snack boxes for everyone.
  2. Deliver them safely to your friends.
  3. Set up Teleparty and decide on a movie to watch together.
  4. Watch and discuss in the chat.
